The light here has something of Hopper's work about it.
Dave Carrington: Hi, Martin. I like Hopper's work & I'm humbled by your comparison: thank you.
Hey Martin ... It's only me that can quote Hopper ... oh ok you can as well I suppose. Yes, great light. Not sure about the your skills Dave, at raking the sand though!.richard.
Dave Carrington: I clearly need to work on my raking skills, Richard
Amazing light! I really like everything about this photograph. Magic. (:o)
Dave Carrington: Thanks, Ros!
awesome. mal
Dave Carrington: Thanksome. Dave
Wonderful !!
Dave Carrington: I'm glad you think so, Shakara!
It reminds me of Hopper too.
Another corker. When are you going to give us a tutorial on how you fine tune these colours in photoshop. Do you use Channels, what do you do?
Dave Carrington: Hi, Jose. Glad you like this! OK, here goes: firstly, the light was really good & I used a circular polazer for the basic shot. I've converted the RAW file in CS2, then gone to levels, opened 'options' where you have 3 'algorithm choices' & used 'per channel contrast', then used the RGB sliders to tweak each channel, then used 'S' shapes in curve adjustments, then selective colour to alter the various hues, then into 'filter', chose 'lens correction', & added a vignette: 's easy, as Max would say...
What a superb image, beautifully composed and presented.
Dave Carrington: Glad you like it, Simon
Beautiful Dave.

Dave Carrington: Wow is good enough for me: thanks, Petra!
I just looked up Edward Hopper as have never heard of him (Philistine they cry). See what they mean. Anyway Dave I love this photograph.
Dave Carrington: Thank you very much, Bill!
Fantastic light.
Dave Carrington: I was very lucky (& bloody cold!) to get this light! Glad you like the result Steve!
Very nice sunset and the pier looks great. Well seen Dave.
Dave Carrington: Thanks, Les. It was cold stood in the wind but worth it in the end!!
Magical in scale and presentation, gorgeous light and color, simply wonderful in every way. Into my likeys it goes.
Dave Carrington: I'm so pleased you like it, Red Pen!!
A great haunting beach shot. Are those tractor tracks across the sand, or just marks made by the sea. Whatever they are they look great in the low angled light.
Dave Carrington: Thanks, Catalpa. The tracks were made by excavators, trucks, etc. that are being used by contractors who are building Blackpool's new sea defences.
Breath taking shot.
Dave Carrington: Thanks, Tracy. Glad you like it!
I'm back today for another look and just as wowed as I was yesterday. It is amazing to me that there are places like this that exist in our world. What a moment you've portrayed!
Dave Carrington: Thank you very much, Kathryn. I'm flattered that you've come back to visit & comment once again.
There's more to see in this photo that one might think at first sight...

Dave Carrington: Glad you like it, Shootist!
This is gorgeous. Wonderful lighting and sky. Great light on the buildings and the heavy composition work in this case. I also really enjoy the addition of the two tiny figures for emotion and scale. Great work indeed.
Dave Carrington: Than you kindly, Jason. Glad you think so!
