photoblog image Donkey Business

Donkey Business

Donkey rides have been a feature of Backpool's sea front since the Victorian Era. Apart from the obvious contemporary features such as the girl's clothing, the plastic water bottle, this shot could be from any decade since then.

Nowadays, the donkeys get regular health checks & a day off on Fridays: it's alright for some!

The shot isn't B/W, just almost: heavily desaturated & all channels toned down & exposure tweaked.

awesome shot! i really love the barren landscape and the cloud details. the composition is terrific and the shot is extremely crisp. i love how the one donkey is slightly ahead of the others, creating a natural perspective. amazing tone!
Dave Carrington: Thanks, Nicole: glad you like the shot.
wicked shot!! really like it..another postcard type..very nice..
Dave Carrington: Cheers, Yanick!
A cracker Dave. You definitly have an eye for a picture. A real Bert Hardy one this. Do you know I have the very same shot taken about 15 years ago, even looks like the same bloke. Do you find these guys can get a bit twitchy when you point a camera at them, DSS!
Dave Carrington: Twitchy indeed, Alistair! This lass(not a bloke!)wanted to know who I was & where the picture was going to end up. She also charged me a quid for the privilege!
Very nice work on this picture
Everything is ok : Framing, subject, PP work
