photoblog image In a flap...

In a flap...

Every day, as the light fails, thousands of starlings flock together & roost on Blackpool's north pier. This afternoon, they gathered on the beach: they looked like an oil slick with feathers! I took this as they all took flight.

P.S. the pan was unintentional: after an hour & a half mooching about on a cold beach I was beginning to shiver, hence the shake!!

You just know I'm going to love this. Perfect Dave. Mal
Dave Carrington: Thanks, Mal. Glad you like it: I got covered in shite soon after smile
Well Dave I have seen a few of these starling shots but this has to be the most original. I think you should enter it for the Shell wildlife photographer of the year awards, seriously. It is brilliant.

Dave Carrington: Thanks, Alistair. If there's an 'Under the pier' category, I'll enter it!

This is great and the pp is lovely as well
Dave Carrington: Thanks, Sola. PP here is fairly light: just tweaked the tones a little with channel mixer.
