7 'th

Every seventh wave is said to be the most spectacular. Exponentially, after this, the49'th, the 343'rd, & the 2401'st should be a tsunami!?

Maybe it's just a crap theory :-)

If it's of any interest, this shot was taken with a circular polarizer into bright sunlight.

I wish I had a tenner for every time I have waited for the 7th wave. I wasted a whole morning in Tenerife last year trying to catch the perfect wave. I came to the conclusion it is an urban myth.

Your new polariser has captured an interesting effect here. I don't think it was quite cold enough to freeze the water but that's what it looks like. Even odder as your shutter spread was only 1/5s
Dave Carrington: Tend to agree on the wave theory, Alistair.
I took a heap of shots of waves @ various settings & this was the only interesting one...

Now that's nice, I thought the spray looked a bit like candy floss. (Yumm, nice thought!)

As for the waves idea, don't know too much, but there always seems to be one decent wave followed by several smaller ones.
Dave Carrington: Hi, Ellie. Candy floss is a traditional feature of Blackpool during the summer season. Maybe it's trawled from the sea?! smile

As a, nearly, ex-geography teacher I can confirm that the 7th wave theory is 'crap'. The truth is that the best wave is always the one you just missed!

Great shot though and all the better for being almost monotone.
Dave Carrington: Hi, Ron. I think I'm inclined to agree with you! Glad you like the shot & thanks for taking time to say so.
