photoblog image ...That green and pleasant land...

...That green and pleasant land...

Something different today: I took this in Mossley in East Lancashire, now known as Tameside, which is almost God's Country (Yorkshire!).

We took a nostalgic trip there last week: my wife Margaret was born in the terrace you can see in the foreground, second window from the left: that very room!

Saddleworth Moor lies in the background, which is imfamous for other reasons...

You are not married to Melanie Sykes are you?
Ah - no - Margaret i see.
Melanie's much more attractive but less famous sister perhaps?
Dave Carrington: Wotcha, Eddy. Don't know Melanie, but Margaret says yes! smile
Nice bit of nostalgia, weird light. I am not sure if it is my vertigo or is this sloping to the right? I am resisting the temptation to respond to the "gods own country" reference!
Dave Carrington: I did correct the rotation: maybe it's still askew?
Yes, for my sins, I am a Yorkie: born in Harrogate. My dad was stationed there during national service.

Hmm, I wonder how long it will take for Saddleworth Moor to lose the unpleasant memories? This is an area I know fairly well, having had relatives who lived not far away for many years. The picture is lovely, does the area credit, even though I'm inclined wink to agree with Alistair about the slight lean to the right.
Dave Carrington: Thanks, Ellie. Even I think it's askew: you're just a couple of bullies, you two! smile
