photoblog image Wheel of Light

Wheel of Light

Along with many others, I've shot  & posted a view (albeit a reflection) of this before. The challenge, I think,  is to do something different...I've tried here: hope you like it!

Apart from some minor rotation & level adjustment, this was achieved with polarizing & neutral density filters.

the clouds remind me of buttermilk biscuits. same texture.
Dave Carrington: Hi, Mroy. I hope you like buttermilk biscuits! smile
amazing angle and even stranger sky. I like it!
Dave Carrington: Hi, Suzanne. Strange is good! smile
Cool!

Did you know the ferris wheel was designed by George W. Ferris, a bridge-builder from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He built the Ferris Wheel for the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago. The Chicago Fair's organizers wanted something that would rival the Eiffel Tower.

Your shot gives a nice feeling of depth.
Dave Carrington: Thank you, John Eagle. I do like an informative comment! smile
Very dramtatic image, me like it :d

Suby
Dave Carrington: Thank you , Suby! You really need to work on your subjective & objective pronouns, though...smile

Dave Carrington: Hi, Sam. Glad you like it: it becomes increasingly difficult to find a new take on oft-shot subjects!
I like this a lot. It is definitely different in a good way. The clouds are just wild.
Dave Carrington: Thanks, Martin. Clouds are one thing we've seen a lot of this Summer! :-(
This is a truly great photograph. I particularly enjoy the texture of the cloud and the bottom line of iron/woodwork.
Dave Carrington: Thanks, Chad. I'm not worthy, etc...smile

Its often in the detail that you can establish the character of something, the tear in the flag, once it was new and whole, the precursor of a season of fun, now its torn but still there flapping......its Blackpool......did we lose a test match today or was it all a dream????
Dave Carrington: A very perceptive interpretation, Max. You should take up this photography lark, I think you'd be very good at it...smilesmile
like this one dave ,i have got something you might be interested in.
Dave Carrington: Thanks, Mick! what could it be..?
wow i love how you chose to keep everything dark evening though a carousel is supposed to be happy and fun. It's almost like you are showing the dark side of a carousel ride.
Dave Carrington: Hi, Mallory.I've always thought there's a faintly disturbing side to funfares & the like. Handing over good money to be scared out of your wits is very disturbing!! smilesmile
