'Nuts' comes to mind (as in nuts and bolts) richard.
Dave Carrington: Yes, they are large concrete nuts that make up part of Blackpool's sea-wall.

Odd, aren't they, the things they come up with for coastal protection. I wonder how long it will be before somebody stubs their toe and sues for damages?
