Is this one of those gumby men on the beach?
Dave Carrington: As you can imagine, Bill, there are loads of gumbies on the beach just now: salty biscuits & bags of peat are about all they will find..smile
Just when you get a good sunset some one comes along an stands in front of you. Your very own Gormley! Very effective, very DC.
Dave Carrington: It is Gormley-esque, I admit, but without the pretensiousness that goes with it! It's high time we question the value of some modern art...
What say you..?
Wonderfuls colortones! Very nice view!
Dave Carrington: Thank you, Jose-Angel! Glad you like this shot! smile
You are trying to get me going! As a student of the arts I have to defend old Gormlus! If one of arts roles is to get the masses of their collective a.ses and generate debate then the Gormlies must be considered one of the most successful pieces of public art ever, I could go on but I have to go to my ART class!
Dave Carrington: Bloody students! smile I actually like Gormley's stuff: Angel Of The North is a wonderful work as is Crosby beach. Some of our cherished artists work is superb, BUT, never let them open their collective gobs: some of them are inclined to talk the most pretentious waffle about so-so artworks that should be consigned to the nearest bin!
I don't want to name names, but you have to agree that some contemporary artists are charlatans. Well, that's got that off my chest, eh? smile
This is ace, Gormley or gumby.
Dave Carrington: More gumby than gormley, this is...smile
