Mr. William Stevens

This is a shot of my Great Uncle Billy Stevens. He was a famous photographer in his day based in  Sheffield . This is a shot of his 100'th Birthday cake taken earlier this year. I guess he was the 'Chromasia' of his day in some respects. He is an inspiration to me &  a great photographer & has just bought his first digital camera! I eagerly await the results..!

What a wonderful shot, and an inspiring story. Perhaps he can start his own SC blog?
Dave Carrington: Now that's a good idea, larry!
He looks extrordinarily young and fit for 100. Lovely family story Dave ...

richard
Dave Carrington: Thanks, Richard. Yes, Bill gets about. However, he has his moments: Bill & his neighbour take it in turns to buy each other ice cream every day from the ice cream van. While Bill was walking back up the garden path, he fell over into a bush & couldn't get up again. When asked what did he do, he said " I ate both the Ice creams! " I guess this laid back take on life is one of the reasons he's still with us!
He'll probably put us all to shame and show how to take proper pictures!
Dave Carrington: You could be right, Bill! smile
100 surely not, that's what i look like and I'm only 43smile
It would be interesting to see his work.
Dave Carrington: Perhaps you should seek medical advice, Nig smilesmile
It would take some doing to present it all but, yes, I think it would be a great project.

What a great story and tribute to this young man! I think this just goes to show that if you have a passion in life it keeps you young. It also goes to show that you're never too old to learn something new - amazing that he is taking on the digital world at 100. Inspirational!
Ingrid
Dave Carrington: Hi, Ingrid. Bill is certainly a one off! smile
He looks in better nick than you do! What is he going to call his blog? Wet Collodion!

I wondered where you got your talents from. Great story.
Dave Carrington: He is in better nick than me, I think! He's supped collodion since being a lad & swears by it's medicinal propertiessmile
WoW! WoW! Many congratulations to Will! An enormous anniversary!
Dave Carrington: Big 'Thank you' on Bill's behalf, Josesmile
Happy Birthday, Bill.
Dave Carrington: Ditto the above, Michael!

Reading about someone like your great uncle Billy is real heartening. Not lying down because of a century - great stuff.
Dave Carrington: Thanks, Louis. Yes, he's an example to us all...
